Seminar: More-than-human rights and the rights of nature - lake Vättern and Antarctica
The research project “Whose body of water?” is arranging two seminars on the topic of more-than-human rights and the rights of nature, at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. The objective of the seminars is to encourage researchers and advocates who are interested in more-than-human rights and the rights of nature to exchange ideas and to form networks. The seminar on the 5th of December will address more-than-human rights in relation to Antarctica and lake Vättern. Alejandra Mancilla, professor at the department of philosophy at Oslo University will present her research on political and environmental philosophy related to Antarctica. Martin Hultman, associate professor at the division of Science, Technology and Society at Chalmers University will present the ongoing research project “Whose body of water?” which will examine how the situation for Lake Vättern would change if the lake had rights.
The seminar on the 6th of December is an open space to facilitate networking where participants are invited to present work or ideas related to more-than-human rights and the rights of nature.
In person participation is encouraged. “Whose body of water?” can contribute to traveling costs and accommodation.
The seminars will be held at Chalmers University of Technology, Vera Sandbergs Allé 8 in Gothenburg on the 5th and 6th of December at 1 pm-3 pm CET.
